I’ve arrived in St. Paul and settled into the place I’ll be working in this winter. A sweet, single family home that needs a little rest and recuperation before taking on the job of rental unit in the spring. Continue reading Surfing the Flux aka Living My Schtick
The starting gun: watching Bruno being hauled away on the flatbed, tow truck.
The finish line: a new-to-me camper-van of slightly larger size and easier maintenance.
At the starting line: Agency Work along side Writing & Art Business. Continue reading And The Race is ON
I’m putting my first t-shirt art project to bed. Yesterday was the last day for orders. I’ve only got a handful of shirts left and I’m feeling pretty good about the whole thing. Continue reading ‘Toons ‘Shrooms – Project Complete
I got in my car this morning with the intention to drive it another 40 miles around town, to reach the magic goal of pushing 100 miles worth of gas through my injectors to prove or remove a fuel clog. Continue reading Good-Bye Little Buddy
What happened to July? (Was actually pretty awesome.)
I feel like I went under water somewhere about mid-June-ish and am finally breaking back up through the surface. I’m a little out of breath but I am no worse for the dunking. Happily, where I used to be treading water I am now actually swimming. Continue reading The Under Toad*
Last weekend, I worked at the St. Paul Art Crawl in Lowertown. This is my second vendor event as a tarot reader and my first as an artist.
When I got home yesterday, after helping tear down the shop, I was so spent that I just heaved everything into the middle of the living room floor and left it. As I write, I am surrounded by the tools and materials I’d brought in anticipation of my vending experience. Continue reading Art Crawl Coolness
From a lovely conversation with a guy at a bus stop the other day, I came away with a refreshing way of looking at working and earning money.
The two of us (I never did get his name) were initially standing quietly, watching cars and people make their way along the busy street. After a few moments of silence he opened the conversation by commenting on the hurry and scurry of the Rat Race. Continue reading Money Cookies
I’m pretty sure I might be the only person they know who lives in her car by choice, makes a hobby of getting lost and, when asked nicely, will give complete strangers a little companionship on spiritual exercise. Continue reading Hence This Post
Being late on my posting was difficult to handle. I had an eye on the deadline as it loomed. I tried not to fret, figuring if I worked steadily I might just be able to catch up by Thursday morning. Nope, instead I learned another lesson about planning for the recoup-ment of energy as well as the use of it. Continue reading Big Week
You know all that stuff I wrote in October about not being that good at designing web pages? Well, heh, I’ve got a couple web clients and one of them needs a redesign of their look and feel. I’ll be working from existing artwork and I’m feeling pretty good about that, so I think I’m well placed to give it another go. I’ve found myself some good design resources, a cool mentor and a few neat Meet-Up groups.
Web dev business started – Check. Continue reading Station Report
